Spartans offer top Ohio OL

The state of Ohio is loaded with quality offensive line prospect for the class of 2009 and one of the best is Corey Linsley of Youngstown. As a junior Linsley was named 1st team All League, 1st Team All-Northeast Ohio and 2nd Team All-State was able to catch up with Linsley last night, and has the latest on his recruitment.

Linsley is a powerfully built 6-foot-4, 285-pound prospect that already has an impressive list o scholarships. Michigan State University offered a few weeks ago and Linsley now has double-digit offers based on his two new scholarships.

"Indiana and Georgia Tech are my most recent offers," Linsley said. I also have offers from Illinois, Pitt, Stanford, Michigan State, Bowling Green, and Miami of Ohio…. I have 11 offers in all."

Are you hearing from the Ohio State Buckeyes?

"Yes I get letters from them, but they are not one of the teams I am really looking at closely. I am focused on the teams that have offered and are recruiting me the hardest."

Linsley indicated that the teams that have really been turning up the heat on his recruitment at this point in his recruitment are the Fighting Illini and the Panthers.

"Coach Wolford from Illinois has told me I am the top offensive lineman he is recruiting. When I was at Pitt junior day they made it clear that they really want me and made me feel at home there. Coach Cavanaugh is recruiting me from there"

As far a Michigan State, Linsley said that the Spartan staff has been in frequent contact with him as well.

"Coach Narduzzi has kept in-touch with me. He sends me e-mail and I have spoken with him on the phone," Linsley said.

One of the reasons the Spartans as well as numerous other teams like Linsley so much is that he is incredibly powerful and explosive. Linsley already has a 405-pound bench press, a 570-pound squat and has power-cleaned 315-pounds.

In addition to his football exploits, Linsley also excels on the track in the shot-put. He recently qualified for the Indoor Nationals in that event with a throw of 55-feet.

This summer Linsley will try and hit several college campuses' to meet with prospective coaching staffs and possibly workout at a few camps with the OL coaches. He also will be attending a NIKE Camp session later this spring.

With an impressive list of offers and several schools already making him a top priority for the class of 2009, could Linsley pull the trigger soon?

"I want to make my decision before July when we start up practice, but if I don't have a clear cut leader or school that I feel is the perfect fit for me, I will probably wait and take a few official visits," he said.

Linsley stated that as of right now the majority of teams see him as an interior offense line prospect, but that could change if genetics have anything to do with it.

"My dad is 6-foot-8, Linsley said. I also have uncles that are 6-foot-10 so I still could grow a few more inches. If I do, I would have no problem sliding out to play tackle.

Look for more on Linsley in the coming months. will have coverage of the NIKE Camps that will take place at Ohio State and Penn State and Linsley will definitely be one of the prospects that will get plenty of attention.
