Pensacola RB picking up SEC offers

Escambia, Fla. running back Trent Richardson is a secret no longer. After promising starts to both his freshman and sophomore seasons, Richardson was lost for the year due to injury. However, as a junior Richardson was able to play the majority of his team's games for the first time in his high school career and produced some eye-popping numbers as a result. Now he is reaping the rewards from college programs.

Richardson claims four written offers to date with one more big one possibly on the way.

"I got an offer today from Ole Miss," Richardson said on Monday night. "They told me that they're gonna send it in the next few days. I had got one from Alabama a few weeks back and I got one from Mississippi State a few weeks back."

A fourth SEC school may be the next program to offer as LSU has said that it would be giving Richardson an official offer very soon.

For now though, Richardson is working on his off-season training and making waves on the track.

"This is my first year coming into track season healthy," he said. "I'm doing track and weight lifting. I run the 100, the 4x100, the 200 and I do long jump now. 10.5 is my best time in the 100 so far. We've got a track meet tomorrow and I'm going to try to get 10.3. Coach told me that I can run a 10.1 but I know for a fact that I'm gonna get to 10.3."

Early in the process, Alabama looked to be the team to beat for Richardson's services, but the powerful back has expressed that he will be taking in several schools before making a decision and he knows exactly what he's looking for.

"It doesn't really matter as long as they've got a good academic program and they run the ball," he said. "And as long as they're recruiting good offensive linemen. Education is important because I can't do anything without a good education.

"I like the academic program at Alabama a lot. I've been looking at the academics a lot. Alabama's the only school I've visited. I gotta see how other schools look."

Richardson will be at the April 13th Gainesville Nike Training Camp and plans to attend either the Baton Rouge or Athens Five-Star Academy.
