Wegher picks up seventh offer
While it is still only February, Class of 2009 running back Brandon Wegher is already up to seven scholarship offers. The 5-foot-11, 187-pound Wegher, who attends Sioux City Heelan, picked up his latest offer on a visit to Kansas' junior day this afternoon.
After rushing for 2,334 yards and 34 touchdowns this past season, Wegher has received recruiting interest from programs throughout the country, including recent offers from Iowa and Penn State. Kansas is a school that has been in contact since early on and during the visit today had a chance to show their program to the all-state running back.
Wegher, who said fellow Iowa preps David Barrent and Mitch Overstreet were among those at the Kansas junior day, now holds scholarship offers from Iowa, Penn State, Iowa State, Wyoming, San Diego State, South Dakota State, and Kansas. Up next could be Clemson, where he may visit next weekend.
Wegher added that Arizona, Oklahoma, and Nebraska, among others, are also showing a lot of interest. Currently, Wegher hopes to make a decision this summer before his senior season, but with so many schools entering the picture he is not going to rush into anything if he is not ready by that time.
