Dowtin signs and is ready for Athens
One of the five out-of-state signees in 2008 for Georgia is linebacker Marcus Dowtin out of Fork Union (Va.). Dowtin shined at the Georgia camp last June when he was officially offered and chose UGA over Michigan and Clemson late in the summer. He has now signed with the Dawgs and is excited about getting down to Athens.
"Me and my family showed up and I signed with Georgia while some other players at Fork Union signed with other schools," said Dowtin about National Signing Day.
"Some people were in the audience, things went great and me and family were very excited. It was a great day for us and I am happy with how it went"
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Rivals250 linebacker had study hall the night before, but he could not stop thinking about what was to come.
"I was real anxious about signing day and I couldn't even concentrate on studying or anything. I was basically thinking about signing on Wednesday morning and I even woke up real early too ready to get on with the process."
He signed early and faxed his letter of intent down to Athens and that made his commitment to Georgia official and he was no longer just a verbal commitment. Not much changed for Dowtin since he remained solid with UGA from the beginning.
