Scheelhaase enjoys MU junior day

When the Missouri Tigers hosted their junior day this past weekend, they welcomed several of the top juniors in the Show Me State. One of the juniors was Rockhurst QB Nathan Scheelhaase and he said that he was glad to have made the trip.

During the game, the talented Scheelhaase spent a good bit of time talking with many of the other 2009 prospects in attendance. He added that he enjoyed meeting new friends and catching up with old ones.

Along with fellow members of 2009, Scheelhaase spent time talking with current tigers, as well as with Andrew Jones who was also in attendance Saturday afternoon.

Scheelhaase said his talks with the Missouri coaches went very well this past weekend. He said that it was always easier to talk with someone face to face and events like junior day allowed the chance to talk much more than a short phone call once a week.

Outside of Columbia, Scheelhaase said he has remained busy in recruiting. Along with the Tigers, he has been receiving mail from numerous schools and holds six scholarship offers after recently receiving offers from Stanford and Kansas. He said his spring would be staying busy as he had at least a few other events to attend.

Scheelhaase admitted that attention from Oklahoma had been there for longer than they had been recruiting him. Scheelhaase's father and Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops played together as undergrads at Iowa and the younger Scheelhaase admitted that it had been nice learning from the coach, but it didn't mean that the Sooners held an edge over other teams in recruiting.

The junior day in Columbia was not the first recruiting event Scheelhaase attended this year. He spent time down in San Antonio as part of the All-America junior combine. He said the experience was worth the trip.
