Did visit sway Hawg DT commitment?
Ole Miss attempted to sway Arkansas commit Lavunce Askew away from the Hogs, was the official visit this past weekend in Oxford enough to do that?
The Camden, Ark. native has been a long time Razorback pledge, the standout defensive tackle admitted Sunday, that the visit will make his decision a tougher one.
"I had a great time there," Askew said. "They have great facilities there, I have always liked the coaching staff."
Askew didn't hesitate when asked if he was still committed to Arkansas.
"Yes, most definitely," Askew said. "I will make a final decision in the next week or so, but most likely I'm still going to Arkansas. This visit made the decision a little tougher than I expected."
Askew was impressed with how the current Ole Miss players believe in their team.
"The players there have their hopes up a lot," Askew said. "They feel that they are going to turn the program around under Houston Nutt."
Askew was surprised on how nice things were in Oxford.
"It was definitely better than I expected it to be," Askew said. "The facilities are basically the same at both places. Both are very nice. Arkansas' weight room is bigger, Ole Miss' practice field is bigger."
Askew had 58 tackles, 37 unassisted, 7 sacks, 6 quarterback hurries, 7 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.
Askew followed up the season with an outstanding showing in Max Emfinger's All-American game. He had 3 sacks, 1 tackle and 1 tackle for a loss in the contest.
