Texas DE picking up interest

Texas defensive end Marcus Malbrough has seen his stock rise over the past month as schools steadily take notice of his playmaking ability. Recently, the 6-foot-5, 225-pound Malbrough picked up a scholarship offer from the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Malbrough, who attends West Brook High School in Beaumont, TX, also has scholarship offers from Mississippi State, Baylor, Houston, and Tulane. The defensive end is also hearing from Oklahoma State, where he tentatively plans to visit on January 18. Also a talented basketball player, who averaged 10 points and 8 rebounds last year, Malbrough says that athleticism carries over to the football field.

A talent rich program year in and year out, West Brook has sent players all over the country to play college football. Last year, the Hawkeyes went into the school and found what looks like their future middle linebacker in Jacody Coleman, who stays in touch with Malbrough.

Malbrough hopes to make his college decision by late January.
