It appears that the Hurricanes are looking to put a running back in this class ... assuming they can get the right guy.
And they're hoping that right guy will be Jacksonville (FL) Trinity Christian RB Jamie Harper.
Harper has a Hurricane offer and says, "I'm definitely considering Miami. They've been a powerhouse, have a great tradition, a great recruit committee coming in. They've been struggling over the year, but Randy Shannon seems like a great coach. He'll get them together. I'm definitely considering them. They run the ball a lot."
Harper says he has to "sit down and figure out" exactly which schools are at the top of his list. He has over 20 scholarship offers, including Florida and Florida State.
"My dad does a lot of the recruiting stuff, is on the computer," Harper said. "He keeps up with that."
Coach Clint Hurtt is recruiting Harper. The 5-foot-11, 226-pounder with 4.37-second speed says he doesn't talk with college coaches often.
"It's hard to get in touch with me," he says. "The last time I talked to any coach at home was three weeks ago."
