COLIN MCCARTHY Q&A
Q: How tough was that loss to Virginia?
McCarthy: It's rough. We had high expectations for the game and came out, didn't execute real well. The team's attitude - the coaches are staying on us about being positive, continuing to work.
Q: How hard is it to bounce back mentally?
McCarthy: It's hard. How bad we lost, how bad we played altogether doesn't really show how we are. Virginia Tech and Boston College are our last two games. It's huge for us to go up there, get victories, get to a bowl game, win that. We still have a lot to play for. We have to stay positive.
Q: How important is a bowl berth?
McCarthy: It's real important. We need one game to get bowl eligible, but we want to win both. If we do that we'll get a good bowl game, and we hope to win that.
Q: People don't think this team can win.
McCarthy: We're always trying to prove people wrong. People say Miami's down, not as good as they used to be. Virginia Tech is a big game. They're highly ranked. If we can go up there and get a win that would be a good path for us. We just need to win.
Q: Talk about that TD of yours that was called back
McCarthy: It was rough. It would have been 7-7, a different ball game, got momentum going. We feed off each other - defense off offense, offense off defense. It jut didn't work out for us.
