Savage staying patient

Huntsville (Ala.) J.O. Johnson three-star defensive lineman Jomarcus Savage was scheduled to be in Columbia over the weekend for South Carolina's game with Florida, but his plans fell through at the last minute.

"I was actually packing up my stuff on Saturday morning getting ready to leave, but some things happened and I couldn't make it," the 6-foot-2, 260-pound Savage said. "Just some mishaps that kept me from getting there."

Despite missing the game, Savage is still very interested to see in person what the Gamecocks have to offer.

"I'm definitely going to set an official visit with South Carolina," he said. "I've had some good talks with them lately, and I want to see everything for myself. I like what I'm hearing, though."

As for his other official visits, Savage is taking his time in determining which schools they'll be with.

"To be honest, I'm just mainly focused on my team and the state playoffs," he said. "We're in the second round now, and I really want to win a state championship. So that's where I'm focusing my time right now."

With his eye on a state title, don't look for a decision from Savage anytime soon.
