Smith one of best ever at Tulsa

Since Paul Smith came to the University of Tulsa from Owasso High School, the Golden Hurricane has been a different football program. Smith helped resurrect TU from back-to-back one-win seasons to three bowl games in four years. Yesterday afternoon, he became the school's career and single-season passing leader, solidifying his position as one of Tulsa's best.

With a 37-yard touchdown pass to Dion Toliver in the third quarter against Houston, Smith broke TJ Rubley's career record and Billy Guy Anderson's 1965 single season record. He now has 9,338 career yards and 3,467 passing yards this year.

That same third quarter scoring toss was Smith's 32nd of the season, tying him with Jerry Rhome for the single season touchdown passes record set in 1964.
