The nation's No. 3 jumbo athlete, according to Rivals.com, could be in Clemson soon. When would that happen for four-star recruit E.J. Abrams-Ward?
"I thinking about coming up to Clemson when they play Boston College," Abrams-Ward told Tigerillustrated.com Tuesday afternoon. "I'm not sure but I'd really like to get there sometime soon."
The Thomasville (NC) product is considering seven schools. Which top programs are after the 6-foot-5, 215-pound jack of all trades?
"North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Clemson, Alabama, Georgia and Boston College," he listed. "I'm wide open to everybody right now."
What are the Rivals250 member's thoughts on each of them?
North Carolina - "I just went up there last Saturday. Oh man, it was great. Nice atmosphere. (Running backs) coach (Kenny) Browning and coach (Butch) Davis let me know they still want me to come there and that I still have a scholarship available there. That basically I can play for them. They see me as a wide receiver."
"They showed me around campus. The vibe was real - I loved it. They said I could potentially start as a freshman. I talked with Ryan Houston and he told me how it is there. I got to talk with Roy Williams, too, because I'm going to play football on scholarship in college likely and walk-on for basketball, too. He was all for it."
Tennessee - "It's a different world there. They are good in basketball, baseball and football, which is big for me since I'm a multi-sport athlete. They are a football school so they have a bigger atmosphere there. That doesn't deter me from UNC. But I had a time when I went to (Knoxville)."
Clemson - "They are a powerhouse in the ACC. They get you and hit you hard. They are a smash-mouth team and play just like Thomasville. I really like that. They see me as a tight end. I talked with (tight ends) coach (Billy) Napier and he wants to get me up there. I used to play basketball against (Tiger freshman cornerback) Marcus Gilchrist."
Alabama - "I talk with (tight ends) coach (Curt) Cignetti. I'm not too sure about them. Maybe if they show more interest or I talk to their coaches more I'll visit there."
