Kennedy has team prepped for exhibition

Don't look for the result of Friday night's game between the Ole Miss men's basketball team and Delta State in the win-loss column.

It won't be there.

But the impact of the exhibition game certainly could carry over, as the Rebels take on Delta State in exhibition play at 7 p.m.

The Rebels scrimmaged last weekend at Middle Tennessee State, but this will be a little different head coach Andy Kennedy said.

"It's a chance for us to get out and play someone other than ourselves," Kennedy said. "There's something to be said for, especially for a team with so many new guys, putting the uniform on and playing in front of some fans."

Ole Miss, the defending SEC West Champions, is in a unique position after losing three of the team's top four scorers and the entire starting backcourt.

But with David Huertas, Chris Warren and eight other newcomers, the Rebels are feeling pretty good - despite being picked last in the SEC West.

"That's preseason. We don't care what they say," Huertas said. "Last year, we were at the bottom too. We feel that we have a much better team this year."
