Hogs must keep focus

Arkansas defeated Ole Miss 44-8 Saturday afternoon in Oxford to record its first conference win of the fall.

Arkansas coach Houston Nutt was proud of his team that could have easily shut it down after three narrow losses against teams that are ranked or have been ranked this season.

"We went on the road and won a game that took a lot of effort, focus and concentration," Nutt said. "They practiced that way all week."

Nutt pointed out the leadership skills of several players this past week that helped keep the team together following Arkansas' 9-7 loss to Auburn the previous Saturday in Fayetteville. Among the players Nutt talked about as leaders were wide receivers Robert Johnson, Marcus Monk, linebacker Weston Dacus, center Jonathan Luigs, and running backs Darren McFadden, Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis.

"Those guys really stepped up this past week," Nutt said. "That was a very difficult loss last week. To really get our team focused and get us back on track takes a lot. The Ole Miss game was a battle of wills. I felt from the first snap our guys were so in tune."
