Mattes returns to Chapel Hill

Concord (N.C.) Robinson offensive tackle R.J. Mattes returned to Chapel Hill over the weekend to catch two of his top five schools, Virginia and North Carolina, in action. The 6-6, 265-pounder was impressed with the atmosphere at Kenan Stadium, along with the game itself.

Mattes' father, Ron, who played at Virginia under George Welsh in the 1980s, was unabashed about which school he was cheering for in the game, but R.J., on the other hand, had torn loyalties.

Mattes, who has a top five including the Cavaliers, Tar Heels, South Carolina, Clemson, and N.C. State, has another visit planned in two weeks, where he will watch Virginia play Pittsburgh in Charlottesville.
