Home-Grown Talent

Over the last two seasons, on-field experience has taught Wake Forest that it is important to build solid depth at the quarterback position. After injuries to the starting quarterback in week one each of the last two years (Ben Mauk and Riley Skinner), the Demon Deacons have shown an obvious emphasis in recruiting solid signal-callers. Despite receiving a commitment from Ted Stachitas for the class of 2008, the Wake Forest coaching staff hasn't had to look far for one prospect in the 2009 class, Kernersville (NC) East Forsyth pro-style quarterback Danny O'Brien.

O'Brien, who is 6-foot-3, 194 pounds, was on campus last weekend for the Nebraska game. "We got to campus at about 10 on Saturday morning and registered," O'Brien said. "We got to eat and talk to the coaches a little bit. Then we watched warm-ups from the field and went up to our seats for the game."
