Mimbs off to a good start

It wasn't like Brian Mimbs was making his college debut when he lined up to punt in the first quarter of Saturday's game against Oklahoma State.

But it sure felt like it.

Although the Dublin native saw bits and pieces of action last year with the Bulldogs, when Mimbs lined up deep in his end zone for his first punt against the Cowboys, the junior could have sworn he was playing his first game.

The butterflies were definitely there.

"When you come in behind an All-American (Gordon Ely-Kelso), you get used to being behind him," Mimbs said. "It's like 'Whoa' when you're finally back out there again."

Mimbs, who was locked in a preseason battle with freshman Drew Butler for the starting punter position, averaged 42.4 yards on five kicks, including a long punt of just over 51 yards.
