Sleepless In Seattle?

BOISE- "Bigger, faster, stronger. That's really what it is."

In two sentences, Boise State football coach Chris Petersen summed up how his team's next opponent, Washington, compares to the 23rd-ranked Broncos.

"Tremendous speed, when you put that Louis Rankin back there that's sure faster than anybody we have, and with the quarterback back there, that backfield has to be the fastest backfield in the PAC-10, with those two guys back there," he said.

"That quarterback" is redshirt freshman Jake Locker, who in his team's 42-12 non-conference win over Syracuse Friday night completed 14-of-19 passes and ran for two touchdowns. He also didn't commit a turnover. As for runningback Louis Rankin, he had 147 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the win.

"Those guys got talent, they really do," said Petersen. "And they have a good team. I think they proved it first game."
