Trojans react to Moody transfer
Emmanuel Moody's decision to transfer might have caught his teammates off-guard, but coach Pete Carroll had been prepared.
The sophomore tailback had told Carroll he was considering a move and asked for an assessment of his place on a crowded depth chart, which figures to be at least eight-deep.
"He really worked on it for a couple of days. It wasn't a snap decision at all," Carroll said. "He's looking for an opportunity where he might be the only guy in a spot and really be a featured guy."
Moody ran for 459 yards, on 5.8 yards per carry, his freshman season. In fall camp, however, he and other veterans of significant playing time, have seen limited reps.
Carroll said that by the time the sophomore approached him, "He was pretty resigned to it already. He could see that, in his mind - and this is his assessment, really - that he wasn't going to be able to be a featured guy."
