Aggies have first morning practice

After three days in the evening, the Texas A&M football team had to wake up early for its fourth practice of August camp Thursday. The Aggies were inside the McFerrin Athletic Center at 7:30 a.m. during an overcast and hazy morning in College Station.

A&M practiced for two and half hours with the team portion of practice outdoors. With less than 12 hours between practices for the first time this August it would be expected to possibly have a lull amongst the player.

The opposite, however, is what actually happened.

"It was an awesome practice, especially with the fact that we practiced yesterday afternoon late/early evening and then turn around and come back this morning. Summer school finished yesterday, so we can now go to a morning workout," said A&M head coach Dennis Franchione. "Sometimes that can be a physical challenge when you practice them as hard as we did with pads on. The guys did a great job today. I was really pleased with the effort and enthusiasm.

"I challenged them last night in our team meeting that this would be a test for them to see how they bounced back, and I would give them an A for how they did today. The weather was fortunate. We were indoors mostly, but when we did go out there was still cloud cover, so the weather wasn't as difficult as it could have been. They still came out and did a great job."
