Notebook: Signees waiting; new No. 2 QB

Five of Auburn's 2007 signees have yet to be fully cleared including a top-rated running back, linebacker, wide receiver and two high-profile Mobile prospects, head coach Tommy Tuberville said Wednesday at SEC Media Days in Hoover, Ala.

B.C. Rain CB Ryan Williams and Williamson lineman Nick Fairley continue to wait on final clearance after each was investigated by the local school board regarding allegations of grade changes on their transcripts.

Alexander City (Ala.) Benjamin Russell LB Eltoro Freeman and Chatham (Va.) Hargrave WR Chris Slaughter are also still awaiting final clearance. Lynn Haven (Fla.) Mosley RB Enrique Davis hasn't been cleared and it appears likely he'll be headed to prep school for a year.

According to Tuberville, Williams has been cleared by the NCAA, but is awaiting final clearance from the University's Admissions Department. Williams arrived on campus earlier this month, but has not participated in voluntary workouts.
