Hales hoping to lead Klein Oak to greatness

The Klein Oak Panthers are coming off a 5A Region-II, regional finalist appearance in 2006-07 and are looking for more this year with one of the most versatile backfields in Texas high school football. The Panthers limped into the playoffs last year with a 5-5 record, but caught fire beating Oak Ridge (41-21), Cedar Park (31-28) and Richardson Berkner (35-28) behind the highlight reel producing play of DeSean Hales, who scored nine touchdowns in the three victories.

The Panthers historic season ended in the regional finals at the hands of 5A power Garland 31-14. Klein Oak finished the season 8-6 after advancing to the playoffs in 4A in 2005-06.

While Klein Oak only returns three starters on offense (six on defense), they add a key transfer in the speedy Terrance Robinson, who will likely line-up at running back, receiver and quarterback during the season. The return of junior running back Ossam Cook and Texas commit DeSean Hales provides the Panthers with quite possibly the fastest trio of running backs and receivers in the state.
