South Panola athlete comes in at No. 13

The number 13 is usually is referred to in reference with bad luck, this isn't the case with RebelSports.Net 13th selection in the state's Top 25 countdown.

South Panola High School is known for producing great athletes, Bud Barksdale is living proof of that.

Bud along with his cousin Darrius, are two of the best athletes on the Tiger's roster, on a team that has won four back-to-back state championships.

Bud can play many positions, including wide receiver, cover corner or safety. He is expected to play in the defensive secondary at the next level.

He played cornerback his junior season and saw some spot work at the wide receiver position, snagging five interceptions on the year, one which went for a touchdown.

"Leroy is good, but Bud's special," one South Panola assistant said.

"He's having a great year. He's got a better knack for the football than Leroy does. He reminds me a lot of (Mississippi State corner) Demario Bobo when he was coming out of high school, but we all think Bud has a chance to be better.

Both Barksdales along with Quinn Sanford all have already committed to Ole Miss.
