Hanson discusses UNC verbal pledge

Charlotte (N.C.) Latin quarterback Braden Hanson has known for a while that he wanted to get recruiting out of his way this summer, and on Tuesday he pulled the trigger, choosing North Carolina over several other interested schools. The 6-6, 193-pound rising senior, who recently narrowed his choices down to UNC, Wisconsin, and Missouri, called the Tar Heel coaches to let them know he wanted to play at North Carolina, in addition to the other coaches recruiting him to make them aware of his decision.

"A few days ago I just felt in my heart that Carolina was where I wanted to go, and I just called all the different schools (Monday) to let them know of my decision, I let Coach (John) Shoop know what I was going to do, and I left a message for Coach (Butch) Davis," Hanson said Wednesday morning. "It kind of leaked out, but I feel that I've made a great decision, and it's going to work out best for me in the end."
