Favors one of 2009ís elite talents

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Despite a little foul trouble in Friday night's opening round game at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions, Atlanta (GA) forward Derrick Favors demonstrated many of the skills that has him ranked among the top players in his class.

The 6-9, 215-pound sophomore, who is currently the No. 5 player in the 2009 Top 40, scored 13 points to go along with five rebounds and three blocked shots in helping the Atlanta Celtics claim an 88-62 'Mercy Rule' victory over the King of Court (OH) 16-and-under squad.

While recruiting is still too early for Favors in light of the fact that college coaches can't yet call him, he has been getting plenty of correspondence from schools in the form of letters.

When asked about his list of schools, Favors reeled off a host of ACC and SEC programs, in addition to a couple of Midwest powers.
