Cards check in on Rivals100 athlete Chase Clement

Coach Mike Cassity's stop in the state of Louisiana included a trip to E.D. White High School in Thibodaux last week, as he checked in with Rivals100 prospect Chase Clement.

Clement, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound athlete, is poised to be one of the top players in Louisiana this season, if not the top player. "Coach Cassity came down here last week," Clement told Cardinalsports.com. "I shook his hand while him and my head coach were walking around."

While the Cards have yet to officially offer Clement, the visit to his school was sign that an offer could be coming. "He has just let me know they are really interested in me," Clement said. "And I'm interested in Louisville. I want to get out there one day and look at the campus."

"I know that their program is really good," he added. "They have what I want. And I heard it's pretty common that they have a good exercise kinesiology program and that's what I do."

With 13 offers already under his belt, the talented prospect who boasts a 4.78 forty time said he is "pretty stoked" about the attention he has received thus far. Also with a 325-pound bench max and a 400-pound squat max, Clement has a 3.0 GPA in the classroom.

Clement's scholarship offers come from schools like Alabama, LSU, Florida, Maryland, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tulane and Louisiana Tech. "Schools are recruiting me at defensive end and tight end both," the prospect said. "I'm pretty
much being recuited as an ahtletic big. I've been playing both ways since my sophomore year. I like both. I like playing defense; I like hitting people. I'm probably a better tight end and I like it, but I like defense, too."

So does any team hold the top spot for Clement right now? Not that he's revealing, anyway. "No, sir, I really don't have any favorites right now," he said. "I'm just looking to go somewhere I can be happy. I just want to be happy wherever I'm at."
