King will add to defensive line depth

The lone member of head coach Steve Spurrier's first recruiting class not to enroll at South Carolina is set to finally realize his dream of becoming a Gamecock. Defensive end Jarriel King will sign a national letter of intent with the Gamecocks in December and enroll in January of 2008, three seasons after graduating from North Charleston High School.

The 6-foot-7, 285-pound prospect will likely debut as a five-star prospect and the No. 1-rated junior college prospect for 2007 by when the rankings are released this summer. As a high school prospect, King was selected to the North-South all-star game, and received offers from Auburn and Clemson before choosing the Gamecocks.

After narrowly failing to qualify for freshman eligibility in 2005, King stayed at home and attempted to gain the necessary SAT score to enroll at South Carolina in January of 2006. When he did not make the necessary score, the big defensive lineman enrolled at Georgia Military in March, 2006.
