Meyer taking UF recruiting national

Last year, on the way to signing the consensus No. 1 class in the nation, the University of Florida dominated recruiting in the Sunshine State - signing nine of the top sixteen, and fourteen of the top thirty-six instate prospects according to the Rivals.com Florida100.

In the history of Rivals rankings, those types of numbers, have never been approached before in the state of Florida.

To put it in perspective, Florida's two instate rivals, Florida State and Miami, signed only three of the top sixteen - combined.

Immediately upon taking the Florida job, it was thought that with his ties out west and his background as a Notre Dame assistant, perhaps Urban Meyer would stretch the Gators traditional recruiting boundaries and expand their recruiting territory to include states outside the southeast.
