Spring Storyline 4: Who will be the one?

Looking for scenarios to pay attention to during Saturday's spring game at Camp Randall Stadium? Today, BadgerBlitz.com brings you five storylines - in no particular order - that have developed during the spring, continuing on with the battle for the starting quarterback job between Tyler Donovan and Allan Evridge. Obviously several other storylines have developed throughout the spring, but the five you read today are a handful of scenarios this site finds important to look out for during the spring game.

Like the battle at left tackle, the quarterback competition will not be decided this spring and should resume during fall camp.

In the midst of this competition are two interesting candidates, both of whom have experience as the starter for a BCS conference team.

First, there is Tyler Donovan, a senior who has been in the Wisconsin program for five seasons. He registered his first two starts - at Iowa and against Buffalo - of his career last season, winning both, while starter Jon Stocco was sidelined with multiple injuries. In the two games, Donovan completed a respectable 33-of-50 passes for 536 yards, four touchdowns and an interception.

Allan Evridge, the other quarterback in this battle, has a much different story, as he didn't join the Badgers program until this past fall. Before then, the junior transfer from Papillon, Neb., played at Kansas State, starting six games during his freshman season (2005).

He threw for a K-State freshman school-record 1,365 yards, completing 102-of-213 pass attempts to go along with another freshman record six touchdowns passes. Since then, however, Evridge has been away from the rigors of two-deep work, as he was a member of the scout team during fall camp.
