They say statistics don't tell the entire story but when it comes to spring football practice at the University of Alabama, they'll have to do. At least, that is, until April 21, when Nick Saban is expected to unveil his team to fans and media alike at Alabama's annual A-Day game.
Until then, reporters are forming opinions of Saban's first squad largely on a small window of viewing time at the beginning of each practice and scrimmage statistics.
Actually, at one point it appeared as if the media would be allowed to view the two scrimmages prior to A-Day. However, as Friday's scrimmage at Bryant-Denny Stadium grew near, reporters were informed that their access to the practice would mirror what they were afforded for the first seven practices of spring ball.
