The Georgia defense excels

The Georgia defense bounced back from their struggles in the scrimmage on Monday to get the best of the offense Wednesday afternoon during practice. Georgia's offense made a lot of big plays Monday, but those were few and far between on Wednesday.

Head coach Mark Richt thinks the defense got some revenge after being embarrassed in the scrimmage Monday.

"I was really pretty proud of today's effort. I was concerned following the scrimmage knowing that this is the last fundamental day. I did not think they would put much into it, but they competed well and practiced hard. It was very spirited at the end and the defense definitely got the best of the day. They enjoyed that after the scrimmage Monday. It was a little bit of a comeback for the defense. It was really kind of a dominant day for the defense," said Richt

Linebacker coach John Jancek decided to shuffle the lineup at linebacker moving Dannell Ellerbe down to the second team and he promoted Darius Dewberry to the starting will linebacker spot. Akeem Dent will start at the sam linebacker and Brandon Miller will start at the mike position for the first team defense.

"I move the lineup around and I will play the best three linebackers and coming out of the scrimmage I was happy with those three and not as pleased with Dannell. I made the move and it will be good for Dewberry, he does not know the position right now, but in the long run for him to get some reps and experience at weak side linebacker and cross train will be crucial to his development and keeping him on the field in sub packages. So I am getting Dewberry some reps here at will and letting him learn that position over the next three days or so," said Jancek.
