Roman Catholic defensive tackle gets offer
Roman Catholic defensive tackle Jewhan Edwards (pronounced Juan) called the Pantherlair earlier this week to inform us that he had received an offer from Minnesota.
Edwards said, "Minnesota offered me late last week. I had an earlier from Syracuse."
Edwards went on to say, "I went to the Nike combine in Baltimore this past weekend. I did 29 reps on the bench with 185 pounds. I think that was one of the best marks that day. I also ran a 5.3 in the 40. I weighed in at 340 pounds which surprised me a little." Edwards is currently listed in the Rivals database at 320 pounds."
Last month Edwards flew from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh to attend the Panthers' Junior Day to see the Pitt basketball team play Washington.
In an earlier interview with the Pantherlair Roman Catholic head coach James Murphy said, "He weighs 320 pounds and can dunk a basketball. I like guys like that as long as they are on my team. Any school that does not offer him is crazy."
Edwards said, "I would like to get to Syracuse and Minnesota. I want to check out any school that offers me."
Edwards also plans on attending the Nike training camp at Rutgers on May 12th.
Pitt has signed one of Roman Catholic's basketball players to a Letter of Intent. With Brad Wanamaker on board on the basketball side only time will tell if Pitt lands one of the Roman Catholic players the football side.
