Breaking News: Walsh will kick in the SEC
Southern Cal was in Athens Saturday to play the Diamond Dawgs and the Volunteers of Tennessee were in the classic city to play on the hard-court. Another visitor was on the campus of the University of Georgia on Saturday and that was kicker Blair Walsh. Walsh was taking an unofficial visit with his family and he decided that he was ready to become a Georgia Bulldog.
"I came up to Georgia with my mom, dad, and sister for a visit," said Walsh. "We flew in Friday night and visited Georgia all day on Saturday."
Georgia was the second school to offer Walsh a scholarship and he had high interest in the Dawgs immediately. The offer was made just a few weeks ago and he couldn't wait to travel up to Athens to see what the Bulldogs had to offer. He liked what he saw on Saturday.
"They took on us on a tour and showed us everything," he said. "They showed us the business school, the whole campus, all of the facilities, and it was all great."
"I liked the people there, what the school had to offer, and everything was just a perfect fit for me."
That perfect fit lead to Walsh making one of the biggest decisions of his life before the visit ended.
"I went in and talked to Coach [Mark] Richt and I told him I was ready to end the process and become a Georgia Bulldog," Walsh said.
"Coach Richt was very happy - we shook hands and he gave everyone a hug. You could really see the family atmosphere right there and it was great."
