It is often said that in order to experience great success in college football, a team must have great senior leadership. For the Gamecocks, 19 seniors will enter their final season when spring practice begins on March 20. Many of these seniors will play a key role on the 2007 Gamecocks, with 11 projected senior starters and six others that have been starters during their careers. In today's column, we will take a look at the senior class of 2007 and the leadership it will provide.
One thing that former USC head coach Lou Holtz said that has always rang true with me is that for a team to really be successful, your seniors need to play the best football of their careers. This year, if that is to be the case, the Gamecocks will depend on large senior class to lead them. Seventeen of the 19 seniors on the USC football team have been in the starting lineup at one time or another during their careers.
