Prince talks about '07 class
Finally, a time to reflect. Kansas State coach Ron Prince met with the media Wednesday afternoon to discuss the addition of 32 players to his roster on National Signing Day. Prince singled out a number of signees himself and also answered a variety of questions about his 2007 class from those gathered inside the Vanier Football Complex.
Can you talk about the size of your class with 32 players?
"We had a lot of players in this class who were very interested in Kansas State early on, and then a lot of players who were learning about Kansas State. Some of that dialogue let us impress upon some of these players the need for them to continue to improve their football skills and also academics. There are some players in this class who will probably need to go the (junior college) route and develop themselves. We'll see which players that turns out to be; we've got a pretty good idea. Obviously you can bring 25 in and count a few back to a previous year, but from a tactical standpoint we'll send some to two-year schools then look for them to return and come to our roster someday."
On Xzavier Stewart's ability to fit into a 3-4
"He played in a four-down system this year, and we did both. I think you have to be able to do both because of how people spread you out. He gives you the kind of flexibility to play in either system. We wanted to make sure we had that kind of player. He is a rough and tumble player. He plays with an attitude and is an aggressive player. He's very strong and has a terrific build for a young man. We really like the style he plays and think he gives us the flexibility to play in either of those fronts."
