Tigers may go from first to worst again

Unfortunately, LSU coach John Brady has had one of his basketball teams in this same situation.

Six years ago, the Tigers were coming off a season in which they finished in a four-way tie with Florida, Kentucky and Tennessee for the Southeastern Conference championship. However, LSU's title defense was an utter disaster.

After sharing the league championship with a 12-4 record, the Tigers won just two SEC games in 2001 and ended in last place. LSU did win one conference tournament game before having its season ended by Arkansas in the quarterfinals.

The 2007 Tigers are having a most difficult time successfully defending their outright league championship of a year ago. In fact, by this time next weekend, LSU could be eliminated from the SEC race.
