Washington has big talk with Stoops
The 2007 class took a break from having a five-star Rivals.com prospect from the high school ranks. Oklahoma looked primed to make that an aberration rather than a trend when they picked up the commitment of sure-fire five-star defensive end R.J. Washington.
However, even at the time of his commitment Washington seemed to have some reservations and hoped to take a look at a few other campuses. In spite of deeming those ventures as 'free vacations' there is no doubt it's a thought that would have given Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops some reservations.
That's why their meeting this weekend during Oklahoma's junior day was one of the focal points of the weekend.
"I met with coach Stoops and he was telling me that me taking visits and saying I was still coming was like if he was telling his wife 'we're gonna get married on Tuesday but until then I'm going to date these other chicks'. He just was telling me why I should be staying with Oklahoma," Washington said.
