Wilson updates his recruitment

One of NC State's verbal commitments, quarterback Russell Wilson, decided to take an official visit this past weekend to Duke. His trip to Durham surprised many NC State fans. Wilson told The Wolfpacker Sunday night he enjoyed himself.

"I just wanted to check it out," Wilson said. "Yeah it was fun, nice coaches, and great players and everything."

Then there came the proverbial 'but.'

"But NC State is the place for me," Wilson added. "I am still fully committed to NC State."

The 6-foot-0, 180-pounder from The Collegiate School in Richmond, Va., had officially visited NC State Jan. 12. He originally committed to the Pack before his senior season started over an offer from Duke. Wilson had arranged for an official visit to see the Blue Devils during the brief period NC State was without a coach after Chuck Amato was fired. However that trip was cancelled after Tom O'Brien was hired.
