Tigers miss Mitchell and Thomas
LSU was very close to reaching some unpleasant territory.
If Kelvin Lewis' 3-point shot with three seconds remaining had fallen, Auburn would have pulled off a major upset and dropped the Tigers to 0-2 in the Southeastern Conference.
Three of coach John Brady's previous LSU teams had lost their first two league contests. The most recent occurrence was six years ago when the Tigers began their conference schedule with defeats against Alabama and Vanderbilt.
That 2001 squad ended with a dismal 2-14 league mark. Brady's first two clubs started with multiple-game losing streaks.
