Two standing out
Illinois struck gold in the Maryland/Washington D.C. area this year and last, and hopes to do so again with the class of 2008. Several top players call that region home, but 5-foot-11, 171-pound Ft. Washington (Md.) Friendly standout Lamaar Thomas is one of the best.
Thomas, along with Joe and Josh Haden, led Friendly to the class 3A State Championship in Maryland. All three players possess the ability to play multiple positions on the field. Thomas feels lucky to face such strong competition each day in practice.
That hardwork brought serious attetion from several schools Thomas' way. He has offers from Maryland, Illinois and Ohio State. Pitt and Virginia may also offer.
Illinois' ace recruiter, Mike Locksley, not surprisingly, leads the battle for Thomas.
