McClain takes UA official

One of the South's top defensive prospects, Rolando McClain from Decatur (Ala.) High School committed to Alabama in June despite offers from most of the Southern powers. This weekend McClain, 6-foot-4, 240-pounds, was in Tuscaloosa for his official visit despite the Tide's ongoing coaching search.

"I arrived Friday and hung out with my host Sam Burnthall. We played together my freshman and sophomore year so we are pretty tight. He introduced me around to everyone he knew and we had a good time. It was cool catching up with him," McClain said. "Coach Ball and Coach Kines showed me a lot of attention. They explained where I fit in and what was happening at my position. I watched them practice and that was interesting. I focused on the linebackers and how they used them to make plays. I fit in pretty good with that style. I like seeing Coach Kines out there because he's so energized and moving. He's one of the main reasons I committed to Alabama and I really want to play for him.
