The NU vs. CU rivalry is still very much alive

When Colorado fired Gary Barnett and hired Dan Hawkins from Boise State, there was some question as to if the Nebraska vs. Colorado rivalry would stay alive.

The NU vs. CU game has become one of the bigger rivalries in the Big 12 Conference over the last few years and earlier this season Hawkins made some remarks at a pep rally about the Nebraska football program to make sure it stays that way.

"Just remember this, at 0-5 the worst days as a Buff is better than the best days as a Husker," Hawkins said at CU's homecoming pep rally before the Baylor game. "Just remember that."

Colorado went on to lose that week to the Bears 34-31 and dropped their 10th game in a row for the first time since the 1963-64 seasons.

The Buffs picked up their first win under Hawkins the following week against Texas Tech and they'll come into Lincoln at 2-9 for Friday's game.
