The Deuce is loose - Smith to start at RB

Antone Smith will have to be ready to go a little earlier than normal when the Seminoles step on the field Saturday against Western Michigan. The reason for that is running backs coach Billy Sexton informed the sophomore running back that a shake-up has occurred on the depth chart.

"I am starting," Smith said. "I don't know the reasoning (behind the decision)."

Smith explained that the approach at running back will remain the same, with him and Lorenzo Booker splitting series and carries, as they have done all season.

The Pahokee product, who leads the team with 456 rushing yards, is downplaying the significance of earning his first career start.

"It's overrated," Smith said. "It's all about what you are going out there and doing. If you can go out there and produce that's the beneficial part about it."

Smith, who was a five-star prospect and No. 1 all-purpose running back coming out of Pahokee high school, will start his first career game in the 11th game of his sophomore season. Smith says the wait has not been frustrating but has taught him a few lessons along the way.
