Braswell determines GTown will be his home

Tuesday, October 17, 2006 - He has been teetering on taking the plunge for a while, but yesterday, class of 2008 power forward Chris Braswell and his family decided that playing for John Thompson III and Georgetown University would be best for him. As previously reported by HoyaReport.com, Villanova, Virginia, and UConn were the other schools being considered.

Reached Monday evening, Chris, who stands 6-feet-9 inches and weighs 235 pounds, took a break from "doing some reading" in preparation for one of his classes and shared his reasoning in picking G'Town. "It was close to home, so my grandmother (Christine Braswell) doesn't have to go far," he said.

Also figuring prominently in Chris' decision making was "the coaching" and the "knowledge" G'Town's staff has regarding not only hoops, but education and life. The school's stellar graduation rate impressed him, as did the fact "Coach Thompson, Keith (Keith Stevens, coach and director of Braswell's AAU team Triple Threat), and my mother (Lesa Braswell) all talked about getting my education."

Chris' went on to say, "I know more things about Georgetown," including "the system," which was learned through not only unofficial visits, but attending Midnight Madness "two years in a row."
