Notebook: AU passing game must improve

With a returning starter at quarterback, the SEC's leading active receiver and a veteran offensive line, Auburn was expected to have a strong passing game this year.


But four games into the 2006 season, the Tigers sit seventh in the SEC averaging just 182.8 passing yards per game.


Junior Brandon Cox is the SEC's sixth-rated quarterback with a pass efficiency rating of 145.8 but he's only thrown three touchdown passes. Only two current SEC starters have thrown less.
