QB race 'Neck and Neck'
The Wildcats are just two weeks from opening up the 2006 season against Illinois State on Sept. 2, but coach Ron Prince isn't quite ready to name a starter at quarterback between senior Dylan Meier and true freshman Josh Freeman in a battle that has been hotly contested since the start of fall camp.
"I haven't decided, but we're getting close. I guess Sept. 2 is coming, so we'll need one before then. But we have another week here where we're going to really start to find this out and start to make some answers here as the week starts to come to a close," Prince said.
"I'm sure we'll announce something within that timeframe for (the media).
"Right now, both kids are doing a really good job. I'm really pleased with how everything is going. It truly is neck and neck. There's not one player that I think has an edge over the other," he added.
"When you have players that are this experienced and this talented and this diligent, it's been great. That's been the most positive thing about it. I'm really pleased with the situation. I know either way we have a really good quarterback."
