Reier's Review: Wednesday Quick Hits
*The Alabama Crimson Tide practiced in full pads Wednesday afternoon.
*The stellar play of the quarterbacks was the story of Wednesday's practice as John Parker Wilson and Marc Guillon each shined during the day's 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 periods.
*In 7-on-7, Wilson was extremely sharp in completing 10 of 13 passes (one of his incompletions coming on a dropped pass). The sophomore had lengthy touchdown passes to wide receiver DJ Hall and tight end Nick Walker during the period. Both passes were perfectly thrown. He also ripped in throws to Hall and Matt Caddell on crossing routes. While the Tide's passing game has been limited mostly to outside routes the last few years, it appears as if the middle of the field will be attacked by this offense.
*Guillon was also impressive during the period, completing 4 of 5 passes. Highlighting his reps were tosses to tight end Travis McCall over the middle and another to wide receiver Earl Alexander on a square in.
*Redshirt freshman Jimmy Barnes made the most of his limited reps, connecting on all three of his pass attempts. Completions to Darwin Salaam, Nikita Stover and Danny Barger all came on crossing routes. Barger made an impressive grab of a pass that was initially deflected. Freshman Greg McElroy was 2 for 2 in 7-on-7
n injuries and the rest of practice shortly.
