NU Notes: The battle at running back continues

The last three practices have all had a common theme for the Nebraska football team.

NU has held full scale scrimmages on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday and between them several different players have emerged.

On Saturday, sophomore Marlon Lucky broke a big touchdown run against the No. 1 defense and on Tuesday, junior running backs Kenny Wilson and Brandon Jackson made some big plays of their own according to the players who spoke with the media after practice.

Offensive coordinator Jay Norvell said that Tuesday's scrimmage was the biggest one NU has held in camp so far. In fact it was so big, that Norvell said he lost track of how many plays were ran.

Practice was originally scheduled from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., but things didn't actually conclude until around 5:30 p.m.

"I think coach wants to bang them pretty good this week so they've got some time to heal up," Norvell said. "We need to scrimmage, we need to tackle on defense, we need to block and we need to find out what we've got from these backs and see if they can run through contact. You can't find that out if you're tagging off on them. We want to find out what we have before we line up and play a real ball game."
