Practice report: Opening scrimmage looms

The Missouri Tigers went through their second two-a-day session on Saturday afternoon, heading back over to Faurot Field for the afternoon workout. One again, it was a shorts and shells because the coaches don't want to put the Tigers through two extremely physical practices in a day.

*The good news first: No new injuries to report, though David Overstreet is still being held completely out of practice. Gary Pinkel said this morning that Overstreet might play in Monday's scrimmage.

*Chase Daniel just missed hooking up with Chase Coffman on a 40-yard post-corner route in 11-on-11. The fact that the pass missed wasn't the amazing thing. How many tight ends in the nation even run that route?

*On the very next play, Daniel found the hole in the zone and just threw a rocket to Tommy Saunders. I've yet to see a throw that is not in Daniel's arsenal.

*Player of the Day: We're going to go with Tony Temple. Temple did not really have one play that made us pick him, he was just good all day long. If there was a race before, there isn't one now. Health allowing, Temple starts the season atop the depth chart
