Media Day: Cleveland hoping to play
By enrolling in college a semester early at Iowa, wide receiver James Cleveland made a clear statement that he hopes to play as a true freshman this year. At media day, Cleveland talked about his experience in spring practice, what it was like going home from prom, his chances of playing this year, and much more.
Q: How did you think you did in the spring?
CLEVELAND: It was pretty good. It was a lot of learning because it's a lot different than the offense that I came from with airing it out in high school to a championship based offense here with 60% run and 40% pass, but it was pretty good.
Q: In the last practice, you had the long touchdown catch. What did that feel like?
CLEVELAND: It felt good because it was a touchdown, but it's not real yet because I haven't done it in front of anybody. I feel like I still haven't done anything.
Q: Have you given some thought to what your first touchdown will feel like over there in Kinnick Stadium?
CLEVELAND: Nah, it's going to be a rush though, I can tell you that. I know it's going to be a rush. I've seen a few of the older receivers when they scored their first touchdown and they were in the endzone celebrating and I just can't wait.
